About
Info about Liam…
A Manhattan-born New Yorker, Liam Davis grew up influenced by an array of music. While his father’s love of classic rock engraved the iconic soundprints of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd into him as a child, his studies of classical percussion (such as Bach’s ‘Violin Concerto in A minor’ for marimba) and jazz (Max Roach’s ‘Max’s Mode’) would shape him into a well-rounded musician as he aged. From the age of five, Liam was able to keep perfect time on a drumset with no training. At eight years old, after only three years of lessons under Juilliard-grad Judith Hirshman, he earned a spot in his school’s sixth grade jazz band. That same year, he would play at Carnegie Hall in a jazz quartet under the direction of the Music Conservatory Of Westchester. At this time, Liam would also begin classical piano training; although it wasn’t until he strayed from this formal training that he would discover his true passion, songwriting. Influenced by many of the greats (Elton John, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney) as well as more modern acts (John Mayer, Nothing But Thieves, The Black Keys), Liam has developed a broad writing style that blends numerous genres. Picking up guitar at age fifteen only increased his ability to express himself musically and put whatever he hears in his head into a real space. His proficiency as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and arranger have given him creative control that is rare for an artist of his generation.
COMIN’ FOR GOLD
Liam’s latest single Comin’ For Gold pulls the listener in a brand new direction. Showing off the edgier side of his personality, Comin’ For Gold is ‘in your face’, energetic and will have you ready to run a marathon. Reminiscent of early work from the Black Keys, this track was mastered by industry-famous mastering engineer Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Royal Blood, Cage the Elephant). Davis is more than excited to show his fans this version of himself after previously putting out lengthy, singer-songwriter tracks.
